Recommendations for Group-Based Behavioral Interventions to Prevent Adolescent Pregnancy, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, and Other Sexually Transmitted Infections

304 Am J PrevMed 2012;42(3):304–307 ©2012Publishe n the effectiveness of two interventions to prevent regnancy and reduce the spread of HIV and other TIs among adolescents. The fındings are based on two ystematic reviews of group-based behavioral interentions for adolescents: (1) comprehensive risk reuction and (2) abstinence education. These reviews valuated the effects of the interventions on changes in exual behavior (e.g., delayed initiation of intercourse, r use of condoms among sexually active adolescents) nd biologic outcomes (incidence of pregnancy and TIs).
